Abstract
Logan McPherson, the reclusive Laird of Castle Remington has given up his worldly possession and desires when tragedy strikes home. He is on his way to be a monk, but duty calls and he has to tie himself in a marriage contract to Kate McMullen. He knows this contract is temporary and one day he will finally be able to return to his abbey. And that is his only comfort.
Kate McMullen is a pretty but shy lady who dreams of marrying for love, but has to marry for political reasons. She tries to make the most of her situation and be a good wife to Logan and expects nothing in return. But can love stay far behind? She is unaware of the terms of the marriage contract that she has got herself into.
Will Logan break Kate’s heart and return to the abbey? Will Kate be able to find the one thing she ever wanted in a marriage – love? Will Logan be able to battle the ghosts of his past and tell her the truth of their relationship? Will Kate finally find solace in a monk’s love?
Storyline
Battle rages on near Cullen Castle where the keep of Cullen gets defeated. A war decry is sounded and Logan McPherson arrives to marry Kate McMullen, the shy daughter of the fallen Laird of Castle McMullen. After a quiet ceremony, the bride and groom leave for the groom’s keep at Castle Remington.
Logan has her seated on a fierce looking horse. He himself sits on a fiercer beast. They travel the entire day before stopping for a reprieve after noon. Kate, who has never ridden on a horse before, is completely sore. Logan helps her get off the horse. Realizes her predicament & introduces her to the horse and his mare. She is hungry, arranges for food.
Reach new castle and Kate is shown her rooms, separate from Logan’s rooms. Kate meets with Bergenia, the village healer and arranges for remedy to prevent pregnancy. Have wedding night, Logan sleeps with her and promises to sleep in same bed as her always.
Daisy’s wedding approaches. Kate requests Logan to let her go to attend wedding. Logan agrees and says he will come along which surprises Kate a lot. A different Logan there. Raphael, Daisy’s fiancé and Logan are always at loggerheads. Logan realizes Kate’s culinary skills, makes almost love to her in the open, teases her. Kate is very happy and stops her remedy to avoid pregnancy.
After the wedding they go back home and make love. She gets pregnant and gives birth to a son. Logan takes son for a walk. Kate gets restless and follows him and finds him discussing with elders. She realizes he has married her to only beget an heir and plans to return to abbey after this. She is heartbroken and leaves the castle to go to Daisy. Logan who is in love and has by now no plans to go back to a monk’s life goes in search of wife. Finds her. Begs for forgiveness. Confesses love. All well.
